Windows Phone 8.1 lock screen beta app causes problems

Windows Phone users who downloaded the recently released Live Lock Screen beta app for their devices have experienced problems, such as screen lag and other bugs.

The app was unveiled during April's BUILD conference and provides users with a choice of six different lock screen designs for Windows Phone 8.1.

This beta app, however, has resulted in various issues despite being touted as a way to improve upon problems and limitations, and performance issues have plagued the initial release, which made its debut on Friday 25 July.

Some users have chosen to uninstall the beta app, but have been left with the same problems even after it is removed from their phone.

These include lock screen lag after the device has been on standby, with the display sticking on the resume' screen for too long before the lock screen reappears.

Reports of the issues have varied, as reported by Neowin, and only occur when the phone has been on standby for more than five minutes or so.

An unlikely solution has been found by WPCentral, with the disabling and re-enabling of Kid's Corner in Settings after Live Lock Screen has been uninstalled reportedly fixing the issue. When attempting to do this, a pop-up regarding the Lock Screen app will appear, and you can select the turn off' option.

Though the beta app has been far from a success first time out, subsequent versions of Live Lock Screen will likely see a marked improvement.
