HD DVD had nothing left to fight for

The last 10 days have been particularly interesting for a storage junkie like me.
Ever since Warner Bros walked away from HD DVD in early January at CES in Las Vegas (and not last week as one misguided press release insisted was the case), the platform looked doomed. With only Paramount and Dreamworks (both of whom were signed up with hefty financial support) along with Universal (which like Warner had been looking shaky for quite some time) actively supporting the platform, and none of them releasing anything jaw-dropping good, there wasn
