Is BT’s 21CN actually back in the 20th century?

This morning it looks like a majority of ISP’s using BT’s Wholesale Broadband Connect went offline due to a failure in one single exchange - link here to my ISP status page.

12:00 update - Update appears on AAISP status page quoting BT- “I am writing to let you know that we have had a break-in at our Stepney Green Exchange and it will have an affect on your WBC/WBMC network”. This follows on from a previous breakin to the Mayfair exchange earlier this month. Maybe BT needs to increase it’s security?
