Bulk Save Outlook Attachments … Recommendations?

Our user email folders are starting to grow quite big and attachments are largely responsible for this. The platform is Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2007 (with a bit of OWA thrown in) clients.

I am looking for a straightforward plug-in for Outlook that would allow users to highlight a folder (or perhaps a selection of messages) and perform a bulk save of attachments then strip the attachments from messages - possibly replacing with a shortcut to the attachment itself.

Does anyone have any particular recommendations of product before I hit the search engines?

I know we don’t do this internally, instead using archiving using a online archive product that keep mailboxes to under 250Mb a piece… but still keeping message headers, and seemless access in outlook. The downside being if out-of-office with a cached copy you can’t see more than the first few lines of any archived email until you are on coporate network again. The archive product is clever enough to store each attachment only once regardless of how many users recieved it, which is good on space saving front. I think most large coporates have a similar system.
