Office travel is terrible - especially at super short notice - which unfortunatly seems to be the norm nowadays. Of the past 20 trips personally, you can count on one hand the ones I had over a months notice on.
My personal record is getting to office at 8am. Driving home to get passport and a overnight bag at 8:30, at Stanstead for 10:20 for a 11:30 flight to Italy. Completely unplanned, and the tickets were booked, and emailed to my blackberry en-route to the airport. Normally however your experience is mine also… finding out Monday you are flying Wednesday, or Thurs/Friday for Monday.
