I’m worried for Google!

Up until a minute ago Google had been throwing back the ‘This site may harm your computer’ error on every search result - even its own pages - for a little while. Whilst this was only occuring for around 5-15 minutes I have a feeling it may become some form of news, even if its just small blogs (much like I’m writing now). Whether it was hackers or just a little glitch in their Malware scanner I’m not sure but I do know they will be getting some publicity from it - probably just through blogs … but no news is bad news right?

I checked on the public twitter feed and noticed there were quite a few comments about the mighty Google fail too.

Credit to Google for fixing it in quick time but just remember - how many Google searches happen in the space of 15 minutes, I’m fairly sure Google may have lost a bit of money in that time.

It has been occuring for more than 15 minutes - about 35-40 minutes. It began at about 14:39. Google should have been quicker in dealing with the issue.

I believe Brendon is correct. I was searching with no warnings, then suddenly they popped up. It was closer to 40 minutes. And the first Google news posting about it was from Thailand.

The problem occured for the same duration stopbadware.org was down.

It seems they were over-reliant on the stopbadware blacklist database.

Google did issue an explanation - human error - and an apology.
