Updating woes

I’ve been listening to Robert Plant and Alison Krauss which has put me in a bluesy/folksy kinda frame of mind…

Last night I had three updates of firmware etc on the go and how different were the experiences. First was MS Office ‘priority updates’. Fairly painless but I did notice a bit of a slow down whilst it was going on. And of course there was the obligatory restart Windows to complete. I hate that! I don’t always want to hang around a few minutes waiting for the shut down and restart but just know something will go wrong if I don’t do it straight away lol.

Second was updating the firmware for my N800. The OS2008 is finally out of beta (although I am using the beta version and it’s fine). I think everyone and their dog were having the same idea because it was dreadful. I either couldn’t actually get onto the site or when I did I couldn’t get to the download page. It’s nearly noon the next day and I’m on my third attempt at downloading - and it’s sooooo slooooowwww. Hope it’s worth the wait, although I must admit I’ve never had these download problems before.

Third, final and best, was the news that a new PS3 firmware was available - DivX here I come. It was the easiest update of them all (even though again it had to restart). My PS3 is just getting better and better :-)
