For money and profit

Just read this article about BT shareholders and their decision over BT investing in better broadband for the country. I’m disgusted.
At a time when we need to consider the future of our economy and competition with the rest of the world these shareholders seem to be putting themselves above the benefit for our country. I also feel that they are being very short-sighted; an old friend used to have the policy ’spend money to make money’.
Unfortunately, in an age where we still consider every man for himself and mony is god, this is the kind of results we get. It may be a little to emotive but we ask our servicemen to put themselves in danger for our country (whether rightly or wrongly) but our businessmen will not risk a lower profit margin for the greater good.

I imagine that BT will be given a very rough ride by the press over this, if a decision that could benefit the nation as a whole is held up by the short term interests of the few. Thank you for pointing out the article.
