Being taken advantage of?

I am in the market for a Nintendo Wii Fit - mother in law wants to get one for daughter for Xmas. Somehow I’ve ended up as being the one to do the shopping for it.
Anyhow, they are again totally hard to find and when I have looked around at what’s available all the stores seem to be wanting to sell it to you with extras. Now, my daughter has tried the Wii Fit (currently nicked from parents) so I know she wants one but the extras are not only games I don’t think she’ll want but also mean that the price goes way over budget.
Do you think this is fair? Making a customer buy something they don’t necessarily want in order to get something they do? Especially in the current economic climate where everyone is counting the pennies.
