It makes me giggle (sometimes)

I went to get a wireless network card to install in son’s PC (he’d blown the USB one with over-use). PC World didn’t have any in stock so I went to a local supplier. I generally do use local rather than big chain but there is usually a price difference. But that’s not the point of this ramble…
I went in and asked for what I wanted. He took one down from the shelf and gave me a look - “Don’t you want it installing?” he asked. “No thanks, I’ll do it myself.” I replied.
“Oh”
There was doubt in his voice, obvious doubt. I got home and installed it with no problems yet I dreaded having a problem because then his view would be vindicated.

Sweet Apple

I hear that Apple are removing DRM from their music on iTunes. This means, apparently, that you can listen to your (bought and paid for) music on any device and transfer to and from devices without DRM problems.
About time and maybe a reason for me to investigate this iTunes - I’ve heard it’s pretty good.

I picked up the phone a few minutes ago and an Indian-sounding gentleman asked to speak to Mrs Jackson. I acknowledged who I was and he asked if I remembered speaking to him last week - no I didn’t. Anyway, he proceeded to tell me that my computer was sending his company emails generated by a virus that was in a hidden file on my hard drive. I became a little suspicious at this point.

Not content with wanting to redo the classic Rocky Horror Show the powers have now thought it a good idea to ask Eoin Colfer to write another book for the Hitchhicker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. Eeeek! Read more

I recently acquired an older pc which I am playing with. I noticed it needed some more memory and, being an impatient lass, didn’t want to wait for delivery. PC World were offering it for a fairly reasonable price and around

Years ago I joined O2 and they gave me an e-mail address. As far as I know I have never given it out to anyone although I think O2 list it in their directory. Just out of curiosity I downloaded my O2 emails to my Yahoo mail account - from Dec 02 I have received 376 emails to that address. All spam.

SATS

The recent SATS fiasco has kind of affected me, my daughter has got her results but they are unconfirmed at the moment because the school has not had the actual scripts back to check them. I do know that 11 children in her school didn’t get some of their results back with the rest - but I guess that’s better than some schools I’ve been reading about. Read more
