Sorry its been a while! I’ve been busy at work lately and haven’t really had time (I’ll explain further later…) Thats enough of the excuses, I just wanted a to add a quick post to let you know about a handy little tab that adds additional account info to Active directory users and computers. Some of you may already have seen this tab as it is included in the Windows 2003 resource kit. For those of you that haven’t, i’ll explain…

By adding this file to the system32 you will add an additional tab to a users’ properties dialog box. The additional info tab includes some extra fields that can be pretty usefull. Some of these include:

- Password info (Max age, length, lockout duration, expiry date)

- SID

- GUID

- Last logon/logoff

- Last bad logon date

To add this tab you just need to get the accinfo.dll file. Copy it to the Windows\system32 folder, and open the properties for a user in Active directory users and computers. As I said earlier this file is included in the Windows 2003 resource kit or by searching for addition account info on the web. Although it comes with 2003 RK it is compatible with Windows 2000 AD also.

When I was making my excuses earlier I mentioned I had been busy at work, this is true (honest). I have been preparing for two additions to our network. The first is I am making the move from Exchange 2000 to 2003, and the second is an addition AD site with a new DC in the new site (including DFS). I plan on this all happening with the next two weeks so I will keep you updated on the progress when I can. In the mean time if anyone has anything they want to ‘warn’ me about with the two jobs please leave a comment. … Wish me luck!
