Sorry, sorry, sorry… It’s been ages since I’ve posted, I’ve been really busy trying to get my business up and running, not an excuse! Well OK it, but it’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
But to show I really and sorry, here is a list of some free software I’ve used in the past and still use today…

I do remember the days when everyone was using those websites to download dodgy software, or those P2P programs. But those days are gone, the Internet is full of free software to do the job(s).

My very own ‘A’ ‘F’ List (Free List).

  • Paint.net - A powerfull image/photo editor.  Simple to use, but full of features!
  • CutePDF - A cheap alternative to the £200 Acrobat. It doesn’t have some of the security and other features of Adobe, but if all you need is to create PDF files from your documents, this is perfect.
  • Opera - Anyone who reads my blog will know this is my favorite browser. Packed full of handy features and super fast page rendering.
  • Instant Eyedropper - great utility for anyone who does web design or graphics. A simple program that sits in your system tray and lets you ’grab’ the colour from any pixel on your screen, it will output the colour code in HTML, Hex, RGB and more…
  • Create install free - There’s lots of these types of packages that will create install files for your software. CIF is my favorite, it is packed full of features like, registry changes, register DLL, uninstall, ini’s, macros, and loads more…
  • VLC Player - If you’ve got a video file that won’t play, then this is the software for you.
  • AVG Antivirus - Yeah I know there are some other packages that have done better in some of the labs, but I like AVG.
  • Search and Destroy - I know AVG have a spyware program, but I have found S&D to just have the edge in scanning, and it also comes with realtime scanning, which AVG doesn’t have.

Enjoy the above, and I hope they help! (if they do, let me know so I know I didn’t just waste 30mins) :-D

Thanks Aaron, that instant eyedropper will be really handy as I’m going to try freelance web design when I graduate in June.

I already use AVG and S&D and have never had a problem with either. Wel, except when my daughter ‘forgets’ to update - you want to have seen the state of her pc! All clean now thanks to the above though :-)

For PDF, surely the best solution, and a very good freeware in its own right, is OpenOffice, since it includes the ability to export directly to PDF.
