Dan,
Another application to try is Woopra at http://www.woopra.com/
I have been running it for a while and it seems pretty good and offers (near) real time statistics.
btw, I haven’t found a 24 hour delay on GA for my Blog over at www.jasonslater.co.uk - there are certainly hits for today showing on there.

I use http://www.VisiStat.com and love it — it is invisible and totally realtime.

You should try www.blvdstatus.com it is free, live stats, you can import your feedburner count and it lets set up a goal to track what referrers are leading to new rss subscribers. You can set up your RSS subscription like a conversion. It also shows live keyword rankings for the keywords you are getting hits from.

Hey Dan, never made the link between the two blogs!
I used StatCounter, Woopra and Feedburner to help me understand my stats!

Your Google Analytics installation does provide stats more frequently than 24hrs. Although they’re not promoting it, you can get stats within an hour by including today’s date in the calendar selection on the top right of your dashboard.
Alternatively, a service called Clicky (www.getclicky.com) provides real-time stats and offers a free version.
Hope this helps,
John
