Smoking Ban - it’s safer indoors

Having had a pleasant lunch in a smoke free pub I attempted to visit my local in the evening. A bit tricky as the main drag I live near has a pub every few yards (well less than 100 yards between them) and as almost none have gardens there were hundreds of people on the street. Yes, hundreds. I didn’t count them but there were 20-30 outside my local and there are over 20 pubs in the mile or so into town so I’m extrapolating to 100’s. That’s a lot of people to elbow past. Especially when elbowing the wrong crowd can put you in ICU. What would have happened if we’d have had one of the sudden downpours we’ve been experiencing I don’t like to imagine - scenes from the westerns of my youth where the bad guy falls under the stampeding cattle spring to mind. Still it was nice once I got inside.

Then there’s work. I’m next to the window facing into the courtyard type car park. There isn’t really anywhere else for the smokers to go so I hesitate to complain but there’s no shortage of nicotine floating in. It’s better than days of old when 7 of us used to share a windowless office and 5 of us used to smoke - but as one of the smokers back then that didn’t bother me too much ;-)

Just ban the weed altogether, the last time I got secondaries from illegal smoke was… oh yes two weeks ago walking across the church car park on a Friday evening. A bunch of lads sitting in their car wound a window down, they were too young to have seen Cheech and Chong but it could have been from one of their movies. I just hope they didn’t try to drive away to soon.
