TV’s -  a forefront in entertainment media for many families all over the world, they have been upgraded and updated in size and functionality with more and more channels being added (even rubbish ones! – hard to believe I know!) bigger screens, smaller components, new plasma and LCD technology, Freeview, Sky, Cable, Hard disk recorders, and then of course HD!

Now then, Here’s a question for you to think about (and answer if you so wish in comments) – Where are they heading next? – are they going to get rid of TV’s and replace them with projectors, will we see convergence in TVs and PCs? Are they going to give us more on demand programs?, Interactive programs? – are they the future?

Question is … What do YOU think?

(how’s that for interactivity?)

And lastly, I’m glad to inform you all that my laptop after having Vista SP1 installed last week is still surviving! – I haven’t noticed any difference at all in terms of speed – which is what I was hoping for when transferring files but oh well, maybe it’ll make my laptop more secure and stuff so sorry to disappoint those who wanted it to fail – after saying this I have touched wood, set a recovery checkpoint and of course backed up backed up backed up :)!

I am very happy for you and Vista SP1. I hope your relationship continues happily :-)

It’s not made an appearance on my laptop yet but I’m ready and waiting

As for the TV - once we can get the upload speeds I reckon PCs & TVs will be more amalgamated into a true media center. Although, I must say I am impressed with the iPlayer from the BBC.

I’m guessing, because I like the idea, that eventually more and more people will watch TV online whilst using the Internet for other activities - it’ll also see a rethink of desktop real estate, perhaps something like Picture in Picture. I don’t think we’ll get rid of TVs per se, but you’re probably right in the convergence idea.

I’d be particularly interested to see if Sky via broadband could be a viable for a broader audience (at a reduced cost compared to Sky via dish.) Of course, the ISPs may be unhappy!
