N800, Outlook and Google calendar

I really like my N800, it has lots of potentially useful stuff on it. But I don’t really carry it around with me outside the home for two reasons…

1/ There’s a dearth of wireless hotspots in my area

2/ I couldn’t synch it with Outlook

#2 has now been solved by using this tutorial

I can now synch Outlook with my Google calendar then it’s just a simple matter of updating my N800 before I leave home (easy as I generally check the news etc on it first thing) and I’m all set for the day.

To update my N800 I use the gpecalendar/todo and run a synch with Google using a tool/program called Erminig - sorry, can’t remember where I found it for the mo. The gpesummary applet displays my info on the front screen and away I go.

Ok, it’s a bit convoluted at the minute but at least it’s a step in the right direction for me and another use for my beloved gadget :-)

Heres hoping for a solution to #1 soon! (please let other companies follow mcdonalds!) I love my 770 but find that I dont use it enough, I tend to use my laptop more which is a shame, I think that if I could get free wifi everywhere or had a unlimited data plan for my phone on contract then I would use it a little more for browsing my rss feeds whilst out and about. perhaps a offline rss browser (which is good) would solve my problem. I love the media capabilities on it and really love mceguru - its brilliant for controlling media centre stuff and I’m sure in future when I have a proper media centre I’ll use it a little more. I dont really use any calender applications so #2 doesnt really apply to me :)

but thanks ;)
