Grrrrr!

I knew this day would come eventually. You’ll know the day, when your friends say - ‘hey [name inserted] knows about computers let’s call them with my PC problem’.
Now, I don’t mind the odd occasion for my parents or a good friend but when that good friend’s mum rings me (who btw hasn’t even had smile for me in years) to ask if I can sort out all these viruses then I kinda get annoyed. I went round anyway as I thought it would only be an hour or so -huge mistake! I installed AVG, found out that she’d downloaded a so-called anti virus (Antivirus XP 2008) which was in fact a virus/spyware in disguise and now the darned pc was so infected that it won’t boot! She can’t find her original disc either as she’s had the pc for years. I know it won’t be a pirate as she’s a ‘by the book’ kinda woman so I’m going to pick the darned thing up and fetch it home to sort out tomorrow. I have an XP disc that isn’t on my Hardy Heron anymore so I use that to repair hers.
This, I now realise, is one of the reasons I should have stuck with History teaching. No-one wants you to go round and teach them about the Industrial Revolution lol.

Sacrificing your xp for the likes of a non-smiling person?, I’d have made her buy it - what a good deed, you should be proud.
Speaking of the Industrial Revolution, I don’t spose you could come and remind me what year it began could you? ![]()

Mike, the Industrial Revolution started in the late 1700s with advances in things like cotton spinning and use of steam and iron - and look where we are just over two centuries later. Wild huh?

I know how you feel, I had a similar experience recently on a day off - it took four hours to sort out the problem!
