I came across this article, although I’m not sure how correct it is considering the source lol. It appears that the govt is determined to make life miserable for the majority of us while seemingly not addressing the underlying problems and issues that surround the terrorism problem.

I am already loath to travel by plane - not because of the fear of terrorism etc but because of the indignity of being treated like a potential criminal all in the interests of security.  Soon it will be a case of not being able to go anywhere without being searched, scrutinised or suspected. I don’t want any Tom, Dick or Harry going through the contents of my handbag in the high street, local shopping centre, cinema complex and so on. Talk about invasion of privacy. Then of course it will be - if a gadget able to play mp3s etc is found the powers may decide that I just might have downloaded my music illegally and therefore sieze my belongings because, of course, a 40+ housewife and mother is bound to be some kind of music downloader criminal mastermind. (point: I have never illegally or otherwise downloaded music).

Another point in a similar vein…

My daughter finished primary recently and, together with some of her friends, had a pink stretch limo pick them up from school as a treat. It was a stuffy day but they weren’t allowed to open the sunroof due to govt legislation. So some silly idiot got injured because they were messing around therefore everyone is a potential silly idiot and the govt shouldn’t allow these potential silly idiots to make decisions for themselves as obviously the general public (read: silly idiots) is not to be trusted.

This legislating against possible problems has got to stop. It’s about time the public were given back some of their autonomy and enable people to make decisions (silly or otherwise) for themselves. Sure, accidents etc happen, but isn’t it better for the majority to take responsibility for themselves rather than have a minority spoil it for everyone else?

Forgive me if I am ranting but I get so cross

:-) Grrr
