Did you miss me?

I’ve been chasing kids and cats lately - less than two weeks before relative sanity can return and we think we’ve stopped our naughty Bengal escaping through the hedge into next door’s garden (the garden with the rottweiler in it!). Thanks to the efforts of my parents I now have a greenhouse ready for growing my own veggies etc and will be spending time pottering over the winter lol.
Suppose I’d better mention some techie stuff.
My Asus Eee is excellent. Just got the extended battery and am waiting for Ubuntu to release their OS for netbooks later this year.
My brother is probably getting Sony’s ebook reader thingy when it comes out so I’m hoping to sneak a peek at it. Don’t think I’ll get one as I have the Eee if I do want to download ebooks but I can always be persuaded to get a gadget
Anyone notice the linux ref in the season finale of Criminal Minds? Apparently NY police surveillance cameras use it - well that’s what the actor playing the police tech person said.
I am really geting worried about our government’s security policy - yet another flash drive goes walkies. I don’t want anyone with such problems holding any kind of personal info on my or my family. Mind you if they did start reading my emails then incoming would be (instantly deleted) ‘jokes’ from my mother and various friends. Outgoing would be arranging Wibbly Wobbly lunches with my friend. If you’re ever at Lancaster University you must check out the Wibbly Wobbly Burger Bar. I drool just thinking of it.
I noted that Microsoft have made their ‘Live’ online play available for free for PC users. I wonder when they’re going to roll that out to XBox users? I don’t often play online (”hi, I’m wanting to” … BANG … I die!) but I always thought that Sony were ahead when they made their online free.
Anyway, it’s late and I have children to send to bed. Not that they take much notice during the hols. I’m a push-over mom.
