Dropbox has unveiled a host of new security, admin and integration features for business accounts.

Dropbox for Business will get support for Active Directory, with a beta for its connector tool now in the hands of selected customers.

The updates to Dropbox for Business also include the ability to more easily require two-step authentication for logins and meeting the ISO 27018 certification for cloud service providers.

For IT admins, Dropbox for Business has two new management features. "With tiered admin roles, day-to-day responsibilities can be delegated by assigning one of three distinct roles to each admin," the company said. "We're also introducing an enterprise installer that lets admins automate the deployment of Dropbox for Business remotely to any Windows desktop machine."

The Dropbox for Business API will also be extended with new capabilities for shared folders, with data services providers such as CloudLock and SkySync already building systems to let administrators use the feature.

"This is a major milestone for Dropbox for Business - we're making a step change to ensure we help businesses be the best place to get work done," said Dropbox's UK country manager, Mark van der Linden. "We listened to our customers and we're delivering the features they need most in the areas of security, administration and integration."
