EE rolls out 4G coverage for another 15 UK Towns

EE's 4G coverage is spreading further across the UK, with the service being rolled out in 15 more towns.

This increases the network's coverage to 215 large towns and cities and 2,588 villages and small towns, amounting to 72 per cent of the UK population in total.

To celebrate this launch, EE are offering free superfast' donkey rides in West Kirby over the weekend, with 4G Wi-Fi technology installed in the donkey's saddle allowing riders to upload pictures and videos from the day via the service. EE has been continuously expanding its 4G coverage, with this latest wave seeking to take advantage of its popularity with users across the UK.

Pippa Dunn, chief marketing officer at EE, said: "4G is changing the way we behave and there is an increased appetite for sharing those magic moments on-the-go. EE is bringing 4G to more regions across the UK than ever before and with summer just around the corner, we wanted to make the best of British' even better.

"It's great for everyone to be able to stay connected all the time, even in more remote spots like on the beach."

The company has previously pledged to bring 4G to motorways and train routes in an attempt to bring fast connectivity to commuters. Some 47 major train stations, 22 airports and 50 per cent of the UK's busiest motorways have already been granted coverage.

Speaking previously, EE's CEO Olaf Swantee said: "When we talk to big corporate clients about 4G, and when they deploy 4G, typically employees would say, I really like 4G because I can now make phone calls in more places'. 4G is obviously designed for the internet signal, and not designed for voice but what [highlights] is the importance of voice and the importance in reducing dropped calls."

Superfast 4G is launching today in Gateshead, Birkenhead, East Grinstead, Leighton Buzzard, Wallasey, South Shields, Wakefield, Coatbridge, Lisburn, Bangor (NI), Newtownards, Omagh, Port Talbot and Neath, and EE have announced that its double-speed 4G network will be arriving in 20 more towns and cities by the end of the year.

EE's special 4G donkey rides will take place at West Kirby beach on Saturday 7 June.
