EE has extended its 4G service to another 14 towns in the UK as it continues on course to provide 98 per cent coverage across the country by the end of next year.
The high-speed service is now active in Benfleet, Caerphilly, Caldicot, Canvey Island, Carlisle, Chepstow, Cwmbran, Grays, Harlow, Hatfield, Kenilworth, Rayleigh, Southport and Worksop.
EE now has a total of 131 towns and cities across the UK, which have access to 4G services from the network.
"One year on from our launch we are bringing 4G to even more places, making the UK's fastest mobile network available to even more people," said Olaf Swantee.
"We continue to grow our 4G coverage all around the country, and the new range of plans gives consumers and businesses more flexibility and choice in how they access superfast mobile."
EE was the first network in the UK to offer 4G services and it plans to cover 98 per cent of the UK before the end of 2014. However, competing networks O2 and Vodafone have also started rolling out the service having activated parts of the spectrum which they purchased in the Ofcom auction.
O2 has activated 4G in 10 cities London, Leeds, Bradford, Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Nottingham and Glasgow. It also plans to offer the service in Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh before the end of the year.
Meanwhile Vodafone has so far switched on 4G in Birmingham, Bradford, Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield.
Three has yet to activate its 4G network, but has said it will not charge users anything extra to use the service.
