By Miya Knights,
South Somerset District Council has signed a new network provider deal to simplify its fixed line and mobile voice service provision.
The network of service provider Thus will carry voice traffic over its calls and lines service for more than 50 locations across the council's area and provide mobile services to 300 employees.
Gary Russ, South Somerset District Council procurement manager said: "The contract we have signed with Thus reflects our need to move to a single supplier environment and enjoy the benefits that this will bring."
South Somerset is a largely rural area in the south west of England and Thus will provide fixed line and mobile telephony services to deliver on the council's aim of service reliability. As part of the agreement, Thus will provide portal-based reporting and e-billing services. The voice and mobile products being delivered are part of Thus' standard portfolio but delivered to meet South Somerset District Council's needs in a fully supported service package.
Russ added: "We chose Thus as it offered what we needed and more, delivering a solution that meets our requirement for secure and reliable telecom services now, but also offering ongoing support and direction over the coming years. This will help us meet our objectives and commitments to delivering high quality, cost effective services to the people of South Somerset."
