MoJ loses four court discs
By Nicole Kobie,
Another day, another data breach - this time, the offender is the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), which has confirmed media reports that four discs containing court materials have disappeared.
According to reports in the Daily Mail, four discs containing addresses of victims and witnesses were posted on 15 December, but did not arrive.
A MoJ spokesperson confirmed in a statement that HM Inspectorate of Court Administration was missing four CDs. "They were sent recorded delivery. Ministers and the information commissioner were notified immediately it was recognised that personal data had been lost," the statement said.
"An investigation is under way so it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage," the statement added.
Last year, a similar incident lead to the records of 25 million people going missing, after HM Revenue and Customs send CDs through the post.
And over the weekend, news broke of the theft of a Ministry of Defence laptop containing recruitment information.
