O2 offers iPhone users more minutes and texts
By Simon Aughton,
O2 has added minutes and messages to new iPhone tarriffs introduced today.
The £35 tariff provides 600 minutes of calls and 500 SMS messages, a significant increase on the previous package of 200 minutes and 200 messages.
The £45 contract now includes 1200 minutes and 500 messages, again significantly up on the previous 600 minutes and 500 SMS.
The £55 tariff has been scrapped, and replaced with a new £75 plan that includes 3000 minutes - 1800 more than before - and 500 texts.
"We've listened to what our customers want and acted, offering simple but competitive tariffs across all our handset range," said Sally Cowdry, marketing director at O2 UK. "The iPhone is already our fastest ever selling device and this added value will allow us to appeal to an ever greater segment of the market - it is an unbeatable proposition."
In all three cases international roaming rates have been reduced and, as before, the minimum 18-month contract includes unlimited internet access and free access to The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots.
The new tariffs are effective from 1 February and all existing iPhone customers will be automatically transferred to a new plan by mid-March. Those currently on paying £55 will be switched to the £45 tariff, losing no texts or call time in the process.
