LG Flatron L206WU - DisplayLink monitor

LG Flatron L206WU - DisplayLink monitor

IT Pro Rating
Price: £161.84
Company: LG
Review Date: 7th May 2008
Verdict: DisplayLink is an easy way of expanding your display environment, which will have great appeal to business and creative users. The LG Flatron L206WU itself is a mixed bag, however. While image quality is generally fine, the consumer styling won't suit businesses, you need an up-to-date system to get the best out of DisplayLink, and Linux users will have to miss out on the technology altogether.

HP BladeSystem c-Class

HP BladeSystem c-Class IT Pro Rating:
Price: £655 - £4,209 depending on configuration
Review Date: 2nd May 2008
Verdict: HP's BladeSystem c-Class continues to set the bar. HP offers an extensive range of server and switch blades with some interesting storage options and excellent build quality. Management and monitoring facilities are far superior to the competition and the latest power control and metering tools could prove invaluable to data centres.

Linksys NSS6100

Linksys NSS6100 IT Pro Rating:
Price: £916.53
Review Date: 30th Apr 2008
Verdict: Linksys delivers a well built 1U NAS appliance with a number of unusual features. The encryption and virtualisation capabilities increase its appeal to business users but we found performance to be comparatively poor and it's difficult to see how the high price tag can be justified.

Canon ImageFORMULA DR-X10C

Canon ImageFORMULA DR-X10C IT Pro Rating:
Price: £14,726
Review Date: 28th Apr 2008
Verdict: A desktop scanner which can handle up to 60,000 pages a day at up to A3 is never going to be cheap. Canon's ImageFORMULA DR-X10C, though, has been designed to automate ways of dealing with most of the problems that might occur.

HP L2245w 22in Monitor

HP L2245w 22in Monitor IT Pro Rating:
Price: £182.72
Review Date: 23rd Apr 2008
Verdict: HP's L2245w isn't the cheapest 22in on the block, but it does offer great performance for the cash, with a great picture, flexible stand options, including pivot function, and a business-like and smart design.

Application Security DbProtect

Application Security DbProtect IT Pro Rating:
Price: $3,000
Review Date: 22nd Apr 2008
Verdict: Protecting your databases takes effort and there's no escape from that. It will obviously take investment of money, time and effort to install and learn software such as DbProtect, but once you've made the investment you'll be in a much better position to secure your valuable data.

Exclusive: WatchGuard Firebox Core X750e

Exclusive: WatchGuard Firebox Core X750e IT Pro Rating:
Price: £2,286
Review Date: 18th Apr 2008
Verdict: The X750e Firewall appliance offers an impressive range of features for the price. Strong policy based security is enhanced with web content filtering and the improved reporting tools are particularly good, although the number of services that have to be run on other systems does complicate management.

First Look: Asus Eee PC 900

First Look: Asus Eee PC 900 IT Pro Rating:
Price: £329
Review Date: 16th Apr 2008
Verdict: Asus has improved the already good Eee PC, enhancing the screen size and resolution, increasing storage and adding effective multi- touch technology. If you want an affordable ultra portable for your workforce, this is it.

O2 Atmos

O2 Atmos IT Pro Rating:
Price: From free, depending on contract.
Review Date: 10th Apr 2008
Verdict: The O2 Atmos is a great little package and though it does lack features it's the usability that really stands out. The lack of GPS means some will want to go for the larger Tytn II, but if you want a serious business device for use during the day and something you wouldn't mind taking down the pub in the evening this will hit the spot.

Exclusive: Cisco Systems ACE 4710

Exclusive: Cisco Systems ACE 4710 IT Pro Rating:
Price: £8,018
Review Date: 9th Apr 2008
Verdict: The ACE 4710 impressed us mightily. It compares favourably on price with the competition, the optional application acceleration and optimization features are very sophisticated and the icing on the cake are the virtual appliance capabilities, which make this solution unique.
