Quest releases Reporter 6.0
New version of the Windows auditing tool adds detailed reporting and Active Directory comparative analysis.
Quest Software has released the latest version of its reporting tool Quest Reporter 6.0.
Announced at Microsoft's TechEd conference in Orlando, Version 6.0 of Quest Reporter introduces a new module known as Reporter Configuration Baselining (RCB). RCB allows IT departments to perform automated comparisons of workstations, servers and Active Directory (AD) against specified baselines.
The demand for compliance means that administrators have to be able to prove the state of their security on demand. RCB comes with over 300 predefined reports to provide administrators with a complete picture of their IT environment. Every report can be run either as an ad-hoc or scheduled report.
"Quest Reporter allows companies to compare their infrastructure with industry security configuration standards. We support both Microsoft Security best practices and benchmarks such as the Centre for Internet Security (CIS)" said Jackson Shaw, senior director for product management at Quest.Quest Reporter does automatic change reporting, building a historical reporting base to see how and where security issues have occurred over time. There is also support for automatic changes based on security breaches. Once a breach is detected by Quest Reporter, scripts can be used to apply changes and fix systems.
The correlated reporting facilities within Quest Compliance Portal can also use information generated by Quest Reporter. That information can be compared against the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II and HIPAA to help spot risks to compliance.
Pricing for Quest Reporter is $10 per enabled user with an additional $5 per enabled user for RCB.
