Citrix unveils new application management products
Citrix confirms that two new members of its EdgeSight family have arrived and will officially be available later this month.
Citrix this week announced two new offerings in its application performance monitoring product line up, both aimed at making it easier for businesses to manage and change their application environments by making informed decisions rather than using blind faith.
Citrix EdgeSight 4.5, the latest generation of the current EdgeSight family, gives IT departments a console to better control and manage their Citrix environments in real time, while Citrix EdgeSight for Load Testing - a completely new introduction for the company - is aimed at helping administrators to better predict what will happen if certain changes are made to their application infrastructure.
"With these new enhancements and solution sets, the Citrix EdgeSight product line allows companies to both ensure their application delivery systems are architected to deliver superior performance, and to continue to monitor and improve that performance over time at a lower support cost and with optimal control."
Citrix's EdgeSight offerings build on the foundation it gained when it acquired Reflectent Software last year.
Analysts have responded positively to what the new products have to offer.
"Businesses today are run on the ability of users to easily access applications and IT services from anywhere," said George Hamilton, director of enterprise infrastructure, at analyst Yankee Group.
"Citrix clearly understands that performance management needs to be tightly integrated with the application delivery infrastructure to provide IT organisations with the tools they need to optimise their systems, reduce costs and provide a better service experience to their user communities."
