McAfee partners with tech industry big shots

Networking company HP ProCurve, chipmakers Intel, and virtualisation vendor VMware have all announced security partnerships with McAfee.

It follows McAfee's recent link-up with Alcatel-Lucent for laptop security and SanDisk on anti-malware secured flash sticks.

Under the new agreement, HP ProCurve will combine its networking products with McAfee security. HP ProCurve said that the new products will simplify networking and security for enterprise and mid-market customers.

McAfee's agreement with Intel will allow the security vendor to use Intel vPro technology, which can allow IT departments to discover and cure security problems outside of hours when PCs are turned off.

The last announcement was that VMware Fusion would now be shipped with McAfee's virus scanning software.

"The addition of McAfee security software to VMware Fusion helps ensure that our customers can run Windows safely on their Macs," said VMware vice president of infrastructure alliances Shekar Ayyar.
