Following on from the announcement of Windows 7, IT PRO brings you first-hand screenshots of the pre-beta release showing the new capabilities and new look.

With Windows 7 now revealed to the attendees of PDC, we can now start the process of digging deeper into the early version of the new OS to see just how much has changed from Windows 7.

Microsoft has stressed that Windows 7 is more than just a cosmetic facelift of Vista to appease a marketplace keen to see the US software giant release a new desktop operating system every two to three years, highlighting significant under-the-bonnet changes and optimisation work.
