Photos: Nokia releases mass market E63

Nokia follows up the E71 with the mass market E63, combining corporate mail and social networking features into a lower-cost handset.

Finnish mobile phone company Nokia, is adding to its E-series range with the release of the E63.

The handset is intended as an entry level version of the popular Nokia E71, offering a similar mix of business and consumer features in a compact handset with a Qwerty keyboard.

The E63 will include Wi-Fi support, something missing from the much-hyped Blackberry Storm. The phone also includes Files on Ovi', which enables users to get remote access to files on their PC, even when their computer is switched off. All purchasers will get 1GB of Ovi online file storage space to play with.

The phone offers the same keyboard as the one that was well received on the E71 and the mode switching feature, which changes the interface from a business to a consumer look and feel.

The main difference between the phones is the housing, which is plastic and just slightly bulkier than the high-precision metal finish on the E71. As such, it's a single gram lighter at 126g, but also considerably cheaper, with Nokia providing a guide price of 199 (163) before taxes, compared to the E71, which is currently retailing for around 255 excluding VAT.

The E63 will also be available in two bright colours, ruby red' and ultramarine blue' as you can see from our gallery pictures.
