Photos: The art of malware

New malware images from MessageLabs and computational artist Alex Dragulescu.

MessageLabs has released a new collection of malware which has been turned into fantastic computer images.

The vendor released the first images earlier this year, marking the first time that computer images had been developed which visualised internet threats.

The pictures were created by computational artist Alex Dragulescu, who used his own computer program and generated the individual features of each piece of malware.

The art was released alongside MessageLabs' 2008 annual security report, where it also made predictions about the new types of malware we will see in 2009.

Click here or on the 'Gallery' tab above to see the new images, while the previous images drawn up by Dragulescu are available here.
