Samsung's NC20 netbook gets pre-order green light

Samsung NC20

Samsung's new netbook, the NC20, is now available to pre-order from UK e-tailer Dabs.com.

The key selling points of the NC20 are a large 12.1in screen with a higher resolution 1,280 x 800 display. It also employs a Via Nano U2250 CPU running at 1.3GHz, instead of the more usual 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU. It also ships with a six-cell battery as standard, rather than the more common three cell.

Aside from the above, the specifications are fairly standard for netbooks with Windows XP: 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard disk, a 1.3 megapixel camera. Bluetooth and a 3-in-1 card reader.

At the same time, Samsung is re-spinning its NC10 netbook with integrated 3G broadband making it very suitable for users on the move. The netbook will be available with black and blue finishes and also - for the more adventurous - in pink. The 3G NC10 won't be available until March, however.

The NC20 comes with a 339.98 plus VAT price tag, while the NC10 will cost 362.29.
