Acer F900 – Windows Mobile smartphone review
Acer launched a whole collection of Tempo branded smartphones at Mobile World Congress in February and now the devices are trickling into UK retailers as SIM-free only options.
SPB mobile shell rather than Acer's own shell. It was put to good use on the Acer DX900 and makes it leaps and bounds easier to use. More neat additions that were also seen on previous Acer devices include iPhone-esque threaded messaging and a SiRF Star III chipset that appeared on the Acer DX900. The latter ensures you get a speedy fix while using GPS, and Google Maps is put to good use too, although for serious navigation you'll need to pay out for decent Sat Nav software. The Samsung S3C 6410 533MHz processor handles multiple operations and isn't slowed by having more than one memory intensive app open at a time. We were able to have Google Maps, Internet Explorer and the YouTube application active at the same time with only a slight time lag on YouTube.
