Rumours of Nokia venturing into the netbook market were given an extra push this week after its chief executive made some revealing comments during a speech in India.

While speaking at an event in New Delhi, Nokia chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, said: "The convergence of many features of what is traditionally known as a personal computer and a smartphone is a clear trend. Nokia continues to examine this space."

Media reports have suggested that Nokia has been looking into producing its own netbooks since at least February of this year.

However, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo's comments were the strongest indication yet that Nokia is giving serious consideration to a netbook release.

A spokesperson for Nokia said they could not comment any further on the matter.
