What makes the iPhone a business phone?
Since the iPhone’s inception in 2007, it has become the fastest selling phone on the market. But what's behind the explosion in sales from such a new operating system and device?
"The user interface is intuitive and the native email app is really easy to use. We predominately use Gmail and the iPhone works beautifully with it. The iPhone also has the best web browser that makes life so much easier in my field of work."
Simon Tompson is a sales engineer working for Nortel Enterprise. He's another business user that is enjoying what the iPhone has to offer.
"Simply put, I just love the interface [of the iPhone]. I should say I'm a fan of Apple products and software - they do UI better than anyone in my opinion. I had an HTC Tytn II running Windows Mobile 6 before - there's simply no comparison, the iPhone is just a pleasure to use," he said.
He added: "For me it's all about the UI and the way the apps look and feel. Other phones may have the same capabilities, but if the UI isn't right I just won't use them. That was my experience on the Tytn, which is now relegated to a Tom Tom SatNav.
"Whether I'm using it for work or personal use, the iPhone is consistently a pleasure to use, in contrast to every mobile device I've owned previously. I've no doubt I'm one of the people contributing to the sudden uptick in mobile data usage on the iPhone."
But the iPhone doesn't always run smoothly when using Exchange support, explained Tompson.
"Our IT department supports the iPhone for use with the company Exchange servers. The only problem I've experienced has been the Exchange account becoming unresponsive on the phone," he added.
"This has happened twice in the 14 months I've been using it and has required me to remove the account from the iPhone and add it again."
