In the latest of our series of buyers' guides, we look at the pick of the bunch when it comes to smartphones.

This handset needs little explanation. It takes all we loved about the first generation Bold and adds to it.

A sleek design and equally sleek features set and OS to match has resulted in the Bold 9700 being crowned as our favourite RIM device to date. And we're not easily pleased so that says a lot.

HTC Touch Pro2

The Touch Pro2 blends style and substance, with HTC's TouchFLO 3D interface hiding the quirks of Windows Mobile from users who just want to get on and enjoy its features.

It's a bit hefty but that's a small sacrifice for the juice you get out of the battery. Our hard-to-please reviewer gave it five out of six so it clearly is the sort of phone that's going to deliver what it says on the tin.
