marketshare grab

Google's US market share slid last month, as both Microsoft and Yahoo managed to make slight gains.

According to stats from ComScore, Google's US market share slid to 65.1 per cent in March from 65.5 per cent the month before.

Yahoo managed to pick up a small bit, moving to 16.9 per cent from 16.8 per cent. Microsoft's US share, including its new engine Bing, grabbed a small slice more as well, climbing to 11.7 per cent from 11.5 per cent the month before.

Year-on-year, Microsoft's core search volume is up 51.3 per cent, compared to Google's 10.1 per cent.

Stats from another analyst firm mostly echoed ComScore's findings. Experian Hitwise showed Google's share slid to 69.97 per cent from 70.95 per cent.

Microsoft essentially held steady, sliding just a bit to 9.62 per cent from 9.70 per cent, while Yahoo posted a rise to 15.04 per cent from 14.57 per cent.
