HTC announces Wildfire smartphone

HTC has unveiled a budget device, due to be launched later in the year.

HTC has announced a new budget smartphone to add to its existing portfolio.

The HTC Wildfire will feature the latest 2.1 Android operating system, along with an updated version of its user interface, HTC Sense.

However, it will not perform as well as its fellow devices, with a slower 528 MHz processor and lower resolution 3.2in screen.

Other features include a five megapixel camera with flash and a MicroUSB charging port.

The HTC Wildfire does not have a finalised release date or any carrier details yet, however the company did confirm it would be available in the third quarter of this year.

HTC has seen growing success in the UK with last month's launch of the HTC Desire and HTC Legend, with many of the UK mobile providers were running out due to high demand.

HTC is facing a few troubles however, with an ongoing patent dispute between it and Apple heating up this week as it called for the US International Trade Commission to ban the sales of iPhones, iPads and iPods over patent infringement.
