Pictures: Brocade's Silicon Valley Data Centre
We get a tour of the inner workings of the networking giant.
This week sees Brocade hold its annual Tech Day Summit at its headquarters in the heart of Silicon Valley.
IT PRO is here and we got a sneak peak at the datacentres keeping the networking company running. Take a look at our gallery of photos to get a feel for the technology involved.
Testing, testing...
Any company trying to win new customers wants to prove to them its technology is the best. To this end Brocade houses a test datacentre in its headquarters to bring customers in and show them what its products can do.
Containing 60 servers and multiple vendors' offerings, the data centre has impressive green credentials, with a PuE of 1.3. It simulates any number of applications and processes for businesses to assess.
Command centre
Move up a level in the shiny glass building and you get to Brocade's own data centre. It shows off a lot of its own kit through a glass viewing wall but it is not until you get inside you get a real feel for the operation.
It only went live in September 2010 but the 5,000 sq ft room houses 110 racks and is up to 50 per cent utilisation. The company expects the current hardware to fill up by 2015.
