Apple iOS 5: need to know

We guide you through what you can expect from the latest version of the iPhone and iPad operating system...

Odds and ends

There were many more minor features mentioned by Apple for which we don't yet have any significant details. iPad users will be able to mirror what's on their screen to a TV wirelessly using an AppleTV instead of a HDMI adapter and cable. There will also apparently be new multitouch gestures for switching between apps on the iPad and the ability to view alternate routes in Google Maps.

Pricing, compatibility and availability

As with iOS 4, iOS 5 will be available free for owners of the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, the original iPad, the iPad 2 and third and fourth generation iPod Touches. The free update will be available sometime this autumn.
