UK teen arrested on suspicion of LulzSec hacks

A 19-year-old man from Essex has been arrested by Britain's Police Central e-Crime Unit for alleged hacking activity and distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS), according to Scotland Yard.

Police have not yet revealed an identity but the man was named by the BBC as Ryan Cleary from Wickford in Essex.

Cleary has previously been associated with the Anonymous hacker group and was involved with internal disputes.

Games development site Develop said a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police revealed their suspect (Cleary) was arrested over suspected involvement with the DDOS attack on the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).

The news comes after weeks of attacks on various commercial and Government organisations by the LulzSec hacker group, including the high profile targets of Sony, the CIA and the UK's Serious Organised Crime Agency. The FBI assisted UK law enforcement with the arrest.

While a direct link with LulzSec has not been established, the targets involved and the nature of the attacks does correlate. LulzSec has denied on its Twitter feed Cleary's involvement with the organisation.
