Q&A: Graham Palmer, Intel UK MD
We spoke to the UK managing director of chip giant Intel to get his thoughts on the company's recent Small Business Index research and industry at large changes during the past year.

In major consumer markets such as North America and Western Europe there has been a slowdown in consumer consumption of computing products. There are no prizes for why that is as there's been a real tightening of finances within the consumer environment.
Reigniting and regenerating that interest among consumers around computing is really important to use and the Ultrabook is a key piece in achieving that.
While the UK market has been pretty depressing, year on year spending has gradually increased when it comes to laptop sales.
It's about investing even during the tough times because when people do decide to buy a computer they will want the very best for their money. Intel will continue to invest and combine its world-leading manufacturing and chip design capabilities to [bring such products to market].
Finally, as a business person yourself, what was the last piece of technology you purchased and why?
It was a new Sat nav. I like to make sure I get to see our customers on time so I bought one with traffic information included. I recently got a new smartphone, the BlackBerry, and a great laptop as well.
