Software company Adobe has launched its new Adobe Creative Cloud, which allows creative types to use products from its Creative Suite 6 (CS6) on a monthly or yearly subscription instead of purchasing the software outright in a shrink-wrapped box.

Users of the service will also be able to download programs such as Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator, store their work in the cloud and share files with others.

One of the biggest selling points is the ability to download new updates from the cloud before regular software purchasers.

The move by the software company is a bid to make revenue growth more predictable, while dodging shortfalls in sales that happen between updates to its Creative Suite package.
