Power management
VPro allows PCs to be powered on and off remotely by admins to increase energy efficiency and the longevity of devices. It will be possible to schedule PCs so they can be turned on before employees get to work or set them to switch off after hours. PCs can also be powered on to carry out upgrades as and when required.
KVM Remote Control
The Keyboard, Video and Mouse (KVM) Remote Control feature allows IT admins to view and control an employee's PC remotely to fix technical issues.
The remote control tool now supports resolutions of up to 1920 x 1200, allows users to switch between portrait and landscape mode and is capable of displaying three screens simultaneously.
McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) Deep Command
This feature will allow admins to remotely access a PC that is powered off or disabled. The Deep Command also enables devices to be remotely fixed or patched.
[b2]OS Guard
If an application is compromised or hacked, OS Guard prevents malicious code from being executed from the application memory. Intel OS Guard will also protect an OS from malware by blocking application access to critical OS vectors.
Performance
Intel always aims to boost performance. The third generation Ivy Bridge chips have been created using the 22nm process, and performance gains are touted to be between 10-20 per cent over previous generations.
The 3rd generation vPro technology is set to feature in forthcoming business-orientated Ultrabooks, including the Lenovo X1, as well as offerings from Fujitsu and Toshiba.
