LinkedIn UK user base hits 10 million

Social networking site lauds UK popularity.

LinkedIN

Business focused social networking site LinkedIn claims to have accrued its 10 millionth UK member, and that four out of five professionals now use the site.

The UK cities with the most LinkedIn members include London, Birmingham, Reading, Edinburgh, and Manchester.

Meanwhile, the NHS has emerged as the most represented organisation on the site with more than 50,000 members, followed by The Royal Bank of Scotland, BT, HSBC and IBM.

Overall, the majority of the site's UK users reportedly work in IT, financial services and construction.

Ariel Eckstein, European managing director at LinkedIn, said hitting the 10 million users mark is proof of how important the site is to UK workers and their careers.

"Every day, our members are adding information to their profiles, sharing important views and insights, connecting to one another, building their networks and getting access to a world of potential contacts, business partners, investors, employers and employees," added Eckstein.
