Lenovo introduces Windows 8 hybrids
Firm gearing up to launch army of ARM and Intel-based devices.
Lenovo has unveiled a range of convertible, touch-optimised Windows 8/RT devices offering users a range of different screen sizes and the choice between Intel and ARM-based processors.
Devices aimed at business users include the ThinkPad Twist, IdeaPad Yoga 13 and IdeaPad Yoga 11.
The ThinkPad Twist features a 12.5in display and can be used as a standard Ultrabook. However, it is possible to twist off the panel and use the device as a standalone tablet.
The Twist is powered by a Intel's latest third generation Core i7 processors, and is available with up to 500GB of hard disk storage or 128GB SSD. The device ships with Windows 8 Pro, and 3G is optional, which will make it ideal for those on the move. Pricing for the Twist starts at 809.
Users wanting a 13in device can opt for the IdeaPad Yoga 13, which starts at 999. The device is able to uniquely fold 360 degrees thanks to the flexible hinges. This turns the device from an Ultrabook into a tablet. The Yoga 13 is also powered by Intel's chipsets so it will have full support for Windows 8 Pro and Lenovo claims a battery life of up to eight hours.
A smaller IdeaPad will also be available, which will have an 11in screen and extended battery life. The IdeaPad Yoga 11 will be powered by NVIDIA's Tegra 3 chipset, which helps the device provide up to 13 hours of battery life.
Much like its bigger brother, the Yoga 11 can be converted from an Ultrabook into tablet form. At 699 it's also the cheaper, but users will have to factor in using Windows RT, which doesn't have legacy support.
