Dell has become the latest PC vendor to launch a convertible, Windows 8 Ultrabook that doubles as a tablet device.
The hardware giant's 12in XPS 12 is available to pre-order from today and allows users to switch from laptop to tablet using a simple hinge mechanism.
The 999 device is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, boasts 4GB memory and features a 128 GB hard drive.
The XPS 12 is being pitched at CIOs that want to take advantage of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend.
Earlier this week, rival PC maker Lenovo unveiled a similar range of hybrid Windows 8 PCs, as the industry clambers to cater to the touchscreen capabilities of the next version of Microsoft's operating system.
The product is one of a number of new business and consumer Windows 8 PCs Dell has announced, along with the XPS One 27 and Inspiron One 23.
The former is an all-in-one device with a 27in screen and is aimed at users that require a high-resolution display for entertainment and gaming purposes.
Meanwhile, the Inspiron One 23 is also aimed at a similar tranche of users, as well as those looking for a device that can be used in the home or at school.
Sam Burd, vice president of the PC product group at Dell, said: "Dell remains on the forefront of designing the industry's best range of PCs to meet the diverse needs of customers, whether businesses concerned with security and manageability or tech-savvy consumers interested in a new device for both personal and business use."
