Akamai Technologies has announced the appointment of Hans Nipshagen as its new head of EMEA Channels and Alliances, as the content delivery network (CDN) services provider looks to boost its channel strategy.

Nipshagen will be responsible for developing Akamai’s regional partner program to drive sales growth, the firm said, as more businesses look towards its edge intelligent platform for global content distribution.

With over seven years’ experience at the company, Nipshagen previously held the role of regional sales leader, in which he was responsible for sales of security and performance services in Eastern Europe, Middles East and Africa.

Based in Amsterdam, he is also the managing director of Akamai Benelux, having initially been the company’s first employee in the region.

With more than twenty years’ experience in the industry, Nipshagen has also worked with a number of large international carriers such as Verizon and UUNET, including a role managing the enterprise sales division of Verizon in the Netherlands.

“As more and more businesses realise that the future of the internet is at the edge, there has never been more opportunities for channel organisations to drive business with a company like Akamai,” Nipshagen said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to build on the collaboration between Akamai, local partners and customers to drive our channel ecosystem forward.”

Akamai’s edge Intelligent Platform is the world’s largest cloud delivery platform, providing a stage for partners to distribute content across the world and securely provide a fast and personalised digital experience to customers.

“Strong security protection is at the core of Akamai’s channel portfolio and is one of the fundamentals of business, so being able to combine our platform with the insight of local partners will help us all deliver the best results for our customers,” he added.
