Deloitte Canada acquires Applied AI firm Dataperformers
The acquisition marks Deloitte Canada’s fourth acquisition in six months
Omnia AI, Deloitte’s AI division, provides clients and organizations with tailored AI and analytics solutions. With over 650 practitioners nationwide, Omnia AI has doubled its subscriber base over the past few years to assist customers at all stages of their AI transformation.
Building on its AI practice, Deloitte Canada will leverage Dataperformers’ Macula AI to provide end-to-end computer vision solutions. Pairing engineering with AI, Macula AI identifies defects in products leaving production or assembly lines. The visual inspection software can be used in conjunction with IP or thermal cameras.
Dataperformers’ acquisition will also help the firm expand its machine learning operation (MLOp) capabilities.
“Joining Deloitte’s Omnia AI practice is no small step for the Dataperformers family, and we can’t wait to see what this winning combination means for our clients, present and future,” said Mehdi Merai, Deloitte partner and former CEO of Dataperformers.
“By connecting the dots between the AI community in Montreal, and the nation-wide firm that is Deloitte, it feels a bit like we’re about to join the mothership. All I can say is, we’re ready.”

Deloitte Canada CEO Anthony Viel said, “Bringing Dataperformers into the Deloitte fold is a great strategic win for the firm, both in terms of talent and technology. While this move will certainly build on our leadership and capabilities in AI, machine learning, and computer vision, we’re also gaining Dataperformers’ eminent, well-connected leaders and strong brand in the Montreal AI community, which is in demand now more than ever.”
Deloitte's Omnia AI business will welcome Dataperformers' multidisciplinary team to its Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal offices. Amine Ben Ayed, former COO and co-founder of Dataperformers, and former CEO and co-founder of Dataperformers, Mehdi Merai have joined the firm as partners. Additionally, former CTO Gabriel De Lisi and former CPO Ali Elawad will join Deloitte as Senior Managers
